Tasmanian Safaris tours are different. We allow time for longer walks, we choose unique camp sites instead of hostels, and we walk with you during the day to share our knowledge and passion for our island home. Tasmanian Safaris are happy to discuss a special tour with you and there are some interesting opportunities for canoeing on the Tamar and along the Esk Rivers and their tributaries if you looking to to get to otherwise inaccessible places to take photographs, spot illusive wildlife or try your luck at fishing. Our tiny vineyard is located on a beautiful northeast-facing hillside near the sleepy town of Exeter. Established 13 years ago Moores Hill is an ideal location to plant grapes. The site is at 120m above sea level and is part of a ridge system that rings the valley floor below giving the site good aspect, elevation and drainage. As the crow flies we are 5 km from the Tamar River and 30 km from Bass Strait making us one of the coolest sites on the West Tamar - ideal for the slow and gentle ripening of our precious grapes.
Tasmania posesses some of Australia’s true cool to cold climate wine regions. Moores Hill, situated in the West Tamar region produces wines that reflect our unique climate. Our winters are cold summers mild and our site experiences approximately 1150 heat degree days and around 700mm annual rainfall.
The original vineyard were first planted in 1997 and today we have 4.9ha under vine of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and a very small amount of Cabernet and Merlot ... Click here to visit MOORES HILL  online and join the Wine Club

Low Head Maritime Museum
Low Head Maritime Museum The Low Head Maritime Museum is located in the historic Pilots’ Row, designed by John Lee Archer and situated at the Low Head Pilot Station, Low Head, Tasmania.
The Parks and Wildlife Division of the Department of Primary Industry Water and the Environment is responsible for the Station. The Museum was founded by employees of the Port of Launceston Authority. They were Wayne Shipp, Nigel Haynes, Ian McLaren and Andre Gorjup.

The museum has a PONRABBEL ROOM and much of the equipment in this room came from the Ponrabbel II, a dredge that operated in the Tamar River from the 1920s until the 1960s. The Launceston Marine Board was determined that ships should berth close to the city centre. Attempts to move the port further downstream were stoutly resisted. The Ponrabbel II was used to dredge the channel. The model shows how it operated. ... Click here to go to the site
